UCOR elves helped provide a brighter Christmas for local children this past weekend at the Oak Ridge Police Department’s annual Shop with a Hero event. Children from local schools were paired with a police officer, sheriff’s deputy, or firefighter along with a UCOR elf who helped them shop for gifts for their families. Elves from Oak Ridge Dispatch wrapped gifts and distributed snacks.
Thanks in part to UCOR’s donation, this year’s event served 50 recipients and their families, the largest number of participants ever in the program. Walmart provided wrapping paper and snacks for the event, while Food City will help provide a hot meal basket during Christmas week.
