Work with Us

UCOR is a great place to work.  How do we know? Our workforce told us so. In 2022 and 2023, UCOR was recognized as a Top Workplace in East Tennessee based on feedback from our workforce in an independent survey by Energage. Our workers love that we keep them safe while they do high hazard work for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management.  They love that the work they do is meaningful (we demolish dilapidated buildings on the Oak Ridge Reservation, reducing any potential risks to the environment and the community). In addition, they believe that UCOR does this work effectively and well thanks to our culture of excellence.

Want to join our 2,200 strong workforce? We’d be happy to have you. Take a look at our job postings to see if there are any that fit your background and interests.

Please note: UCOR only accepts resumes for the positions posted on this site. We do not respond to general inquiries. UCOR only accepts resumes during the posting period shown for each position. By clicking on any of the position titles, you can access a position description, contact information, and instructions for applying. Thank you for your interest in employment at UCOR.

Workforce Development

UCOR maintains a highly skilled and effective cleanup workforce through training and professional development of current workers. We are also creating opportunities for the development and placement of the next generation of workers. Our workforce development model encompasses a wide range of programs for the following groups:

  •   Labor Workforce
  •   Professional Staff
  •   Higher Education Students
  •   K-12 Students

UCOR partners with national and local trade unions to help young adults and individuals seeking new career paths to learn about construction craft opportunities. Through Apprenticeship Readiness Programs, participants are given the chance to “try out” union crafts and the construction industry before selecting a specific career trade. In 2018, UCOR hosted the inaugural East Tennessee Apprenticeship Readiness Program with 48 graduates and many are now UCOR employees.

To provide continuing development for our professional staff, we provide a wide array of training programs, including our internal UCOR University. We have established a Rising Senior Leaders Program for leaders who show great potential to rise to upper level leadership positions. We also sponsor NextGEN, a group for technical professionals who are early in their careers.

We have established strong partnerships with local higher education institutions. In addition to accessing their professional training programs for our staff, UCOR collaborated with the University of Tennessee-Knoxville to offer a decommissioning and Environmental Management minor in the nuclear engineering department. At Roane State Community College, we are collaborating to offer a chemical operators program. We recently partnered with Pellissippi State Community College to provide a small business diversity summit.

In the K-12 arena, UCOR has established an annual Mini-Grant Program to area elementary, middle, and high schools to fund science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. In 2019, UCOR initiated school-to-work opportunities for local high school students to develop job skills.
