[This is the first article in a 3-part series from the Benefits Team to guide you through updating your beneficiaries for your UCOR benefits.]
As Annual Enrollment approaches, taking a few minutes to review your beneficiaries is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your loved ones.
Your beneficiary designations on file determine who receives your company-paid Basic Life, Voluntary Life, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) benefits in the event of your death.
When Should You Update Your Beneficiaries?
While you can update your life insurance beneficiaries at any time during the year, Annual Enrollment is the ideal time to check your records. You should immediately review your designations if you have recently experienced:
- A change in marital status (marriage or divorce)
- The birth or adoption of a child
- The loss of a previously designated primary beneficiary
- Changes to your personal estate plan or trust
How to Update Your Beneficiaries in Empyrean
