UCOR attended a donor reception last week for the Methodist Medical Center’s (MMC) Family Medicine Residency Program and Clinic. The Family Medicine Residency Program and Clinic was established last year to meet the growing primary care needs in our region. MMC’s primary service area is Anderson County and its four adjacent counties, including Roane and Morgan, which, according to the Tennessee Department of Health, are among the top counties in Tennessee with the least access to primary care. UCOR was among the first organizations to partner with MMC to support the establishment of this residency program through an endowment, which included naming rights to a patient exam room.
The Family Medicine Residency Program and Clinic will teach, train, and inspire residents to become competent, compassionate, caring, and resilient family physicians. These physicians will provide the highest quality, patient-centered care for the families of our communities and will be adept at providing care in either a face-to-face or telemedicine setting. At the completion of their three-year residency, these physicians will be ready to enter practice in our communities, meeting a critical need for primary care services particularly for the low-income, underserved, rural and minority populations.
UCOR is proud to support MMC’s mission and commitment to improve the quality of health in the communities of our workforce.
