Creating new Technology Demonstration Testbed

UCOR has begun converting a former Disposal Area Remedial Action (DARA) storage facility for a new purpose.  The facility, located just outside the Y-12 security footprint, will house a Technology Demonstration Testbed that will give space to test technologies that might aid in our cleanup mission. Workers will be installing a large overhead door in the 12,000-square-foot facility. Other renovations include upgrading the electrical service, adding a fire suppression system, and installing a remote office trailer. Construction is scheduled to be complete in the spring with operations beginning next summer.
