UCOR crews help bring treatment plant to “cold and dark”

Crews deactivating ORNL’s former Acid Neutralization Plant, Building 3518, are busy with electrical isolations as they draw closer to completing cold and dark for the entire Process Waste Treatment Plant. Building 3518 was constructed in 1956 and processed ORNL wastewater until Building 3544 came online. Characterization and deactivation will begin in late FY 2025.  Removing this complex is part of the DOE mission to reduce high hazardous materials and make way for future ORNL missions.
