In recent months, crews at TWPC have been busy working in the facility’s hot cell and using the manipulator arm to remotely handle high-hazard waste. Over the years, they have gained real-time experience and captured lessons learned in changing the manipulator arms. These changes are necessary due to wear and tear and are expected as part of routine use.
This process is a group effort that involves coordination by the facility manager, floor supervisor, waste operators, radiological protection, safety, and industrial hygiene. Thanks to their hard work, each manipulator arm change was completed safely and successfully. Great job team!
