UCOR’s Waste Management organization held an employee appreciation picnic this past weekend to celebrate the safe, compliant transportation and disposition of over 1.8 million cubic yards of UCOR-generated radiological and hazardous waste from August 2011 through the third quarter of FY 2025. Approximately 1.7 million cubic yards were received and compliantly placed at the onsite landfills. The remaining approximately 66,000 cubic yards were shipped for disposal and 24,000 cubic yards were shipped for treatment and disposal to offsite commercial facilities.
Lunch and a kick-ball game rounded out the afternoon. Personnel and their families in attendance were from EMWMF, ORRL, TRU Ops, Waste Programs, Waste Implementation, Waste Integration, and Waste Characterization. Thanks to all those who execute the Waste Management “Waste Factory” in support of UCOR’s Cleanup Today for a Nuclear Tomorrow philosophy.
