UCOR’s Parking Lot Safety Rodeo, being held next Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will give employees a hands-on look at emergency response, fall protection, and vehicle awareness, providing practical safety resources in a fun way directly to the workforce. It is being held in the 701 Scarboro lower parking lot and the 701 Scarboro Meet+Train room.
The Y-12 Fire Department will bring a fire truck on-site, providing a tour of the truck and allowing attendees to engage with emergency responders to learn more about fire prevention, emergency response, and safety practices that support operations across the Oak Ridge Reservation.
FallTech will provide a demonstration and information on fall protection equipment used to prevent injuries when working at heights. Their team will highlight proper use of equipment and best practices to reduce risk in high-hazard environments.
The Training & Development Program, Vehicle Safety Committee, and Turnkey will provide vehicle demonstrations, further reinforcing safe vehicle operations, featuring a 360-degree walkaround, equipment displays, and a dump truck provided by Turnkey to highlight blind spots, visibility challenges, and safe maneuvering practices in active work zones.
Together, these activities combine prevention and preparedness, informing the workforce on how to go home the same way they came to work while supporting UCOR’s cleanup mission.
