To the UCOR Workforce:
As we head into the final stretch of the fiscal year, I want to thank you for our outstanding accomplishments over the last two months. Your hard work, dedication, and expertise have helped us hit critical milestones across our projects.
Some of the key recent achievements include:
- Clearing the Alpha-2 footprint: Safely clearing 81 million pounds of debris from the 2.5-acre Y-12 site—earning national recognition with the 2026 Union Project of the Year Award from The Association of Union Constructors.
- Surpassing oxide waste processing goals: Exceeding our first-year target for processing legacy oxide waste at the Transuranic Waste Processing Center months ahead of schedule.
- Deactivating Isotope Row: Wrapping up complex deactivation work on contaminated buildings along Isotope Row to prepare for demolition starting this month.
- Implementing robotic innovation: Designing a custom attachment for robotic equipment that has accelerated cleanup at ORNL while saving taxpayers over half a million dollars.
As we enter the final quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2026, let’s finish strong by maintaining our momentum and focusing on our core pillars of safety, operational excellence, and efficient performance in everything we do.
Looking ahead, I invite you to join our upcoming all-hands meetings on July 22. I look forward to sharing more about our company priorities for FY 2027 and, most importantly, hearing directly from you about what is on your mind.
Thank you again for your hard work and commitment to excellence. Let’s finish FY 2026 strong and safe.
Best Regards,
Jim Blankenhorn
UCOR President and Program Manager
