UCOR’s Local Safety Improvement Teams (LSITs) leaders kicked off the February LSIT Forum with a tour of the K-25 History Center and William J. Wilcox Jr. K-25 Interpretive Center at the ETTP Heritage Center, hosted by the WILE-E LSIT. Chairs and co-chairs from across UCOR came together for the visit as part of the LSIT’s new rotating monthly forum meeting series.
This year, LSIT forums are being held at different locations, inviting different LSIT leaders to share insights from their footprint. Hosting the forum at the Heritage Center gave attendees a chance to experience two new exhibits, the historic K-25 History Center and the recently opened Interpretive Center. These exhibits gave LSIT leaders the chance to learn more about Oak Ridge’s role in the Manhattan Project thanks to Heritage Center APM Clint Mori and WILE-E LSIT.
Last month, LSIT chairs and co-chairs visited TWPC, where they learned about the BOBCATS LSIT and the unique work being done to process and ship transuranic and legacy waste. Rotating meeting sites not only offers a new perspective on the site’s legacy and current operations, but collaboration and insight into issues that affect safety and operations across the workforce.
Collaboration among LSITs gives the teams a chance to learn from one another and bring that shared commitment back to their work areas, strengthening UCOR’s safety culture and operations through safe leadership.
