The summer intern’s community project supporting patients at Methodist Medical Center’s (MMC) cancer clinic ended this month. In just three weeks, donations totaled 1,580 items, including Ensure, pudding cups, Jello, sandwich crackers, protein drinks, hygiene products, etc. along with $275 in cash donations made directly to MMC.
The new clinic, currently under renovation and expansion and re-branded The Covenant Health Cancer Clinic – Oak Ridge, sees approximately 1,250 patients per month. Many of these patients struggle to make ends meet while undergoing treatment. With more than 14,000 new cancer diagnoses annually in East Tennessee, the need to support these patients will only grow. Support from community partners like UCOR will help MMC expand medical oncology care for the patients in Anderson County and beyond.
