The National Board Inspection Code and Hartford Steam Boiler recently evaluated UCOR’s processes, procedures, quality manual, records, and more. Their thorough review resulted in a unanimous recommendation for UCOR to receive an R stamp certification to repair pressure vessels. This stamp of approval allows the team to perform alterations and repairs on American Society of Mechanical Engineers authorized vessels such as the treatment tanks at the Process Waste Treatment Complex, Building 3608.
Part of the certification process involved a demonstration that required the Maintenance team to weld a mock repair. This significant achievement required collaboration among many individuals and UCOR organizations, including Mission Operations, Nuclear and Waste Management Operations, Quality Assurance, and Engineering.
Amentum’s Director of Materials & Welding Engineering, Stan Gingrinch, supported the team as a technical expert to help stand the program up and ensure the evaluation went according to plan.
“The effort by everyone involved over the last seven months to receive the R stamp does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated,” said Gingrinch. “It was a privilege to be part of such an exceptional team.”
