Several UCOR employees traveled to the Hanford site to attend the annual meeting of their Amentum Functional Area Coordination Teams (FACTs). Through monthly virtual meetings and annual in-person meetings, the FACTs support people doing similar jobs across the Amentum organization to enhance success. UCOR employees chair and participate in three FACTs:
- Young Professional Engineers: Tricia Eubanks (ECP Chair)
- Engineering Management: John Huber (Chair), Scott Ward (Co-Chair)
- Nuclear Safety: Karen Balo, Kevin Brotherton
FACTs chairs manage those monthly meetings where participants share challenges, introduce subject matter experts, and work to align procedures and programmatic documents to support success with each organization’s respective mission.
Eubanks said the meeting at Hanford, with 25-30 early career professionals attending, was a terrific opportunity to improve soft skills like presenting, networking, and active listening.
“It was helpful to see the other projects that Amentum-led companies are working on. After all the presentations and discussions, I really got to see the challenges and solutions that other early career professionals face and how I can improve my path forward,” Eubanks said.
She also noted that a combined meeting with all three FACTs gave those who are early in their careers a chance to gain insight into directions their careers might take.
