Establishing good mental wellbeing is not about becoming perfect. It’s about having direction and purpose. It’s about knowing what is truly important to you and committing to actions that move you towards those goals. Challenges and adversity will still occur, but strengthening your mental wellbeing adds tools to your tool bag and builds resilience for those moments.
Mindfulness is one of those tools. Simply put, it is being fully aware and grounded in the present moment to make the decisions and actions that align with what is really important. Often misunderstood, mindfulness is a practical method for acting intentionally versus reacting to uncomfortable thoughts or feelings.
The Mental Wellbeing Center is hosting a workshop on Everyday Mindfulness on May 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Meet + Train Room at 701 Scarboro. If you are interested in learning how to use mindfulness in everyday situations, you won’t want to miss this workshop.
