As you already know, all IT-related purchases, including software, hardware, and professional services, must receive DOE-HQ approval before being purchased. This additional level of approval is required by DOE as part of the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act, or FITARA. FITARA aims to improve the federal government’s IT operations and acquisitions and has multiple parts including Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM).
Unfortunately, the FITARA and SCRM processes are very tedious and require a lot of additional information. Obtaining FITARA approval for some software and equipment has been taking more than 20 business days after receiving UCOR cyber and IT approval. Therefore, we respectively request you plan your purchase needs to allow enough time for all the appropriate approvals for all IT-related purchases.
Please have patience as we cannot expediate the FITARA or SCRM processes. IT, cyber, procurement, and supply chain are working as diligently as they can to ensure the process moves as quickly as possible.
