UCOR’s successes in enabling reindustrialization and next-gen nuclear opportunities in the Oak Ridge Corridor were part of two panels at the 19th Annual RadWaste Summit this week in Savannah, Georgia.
UCOR Waste Management & Operations Director Sean Dunagan participated on a panel focused on how cleanup and safe waste management can lead to economic opportunities along with Ga. State Rep. Don Parsons and leaders from the Nuclear Energy Institute.
On Thursday, UCOR Public Affairs Deputy Director Chris Caldwell moderated a panel on next-generation fuel, reactors and waste management with Triso-X Vice President Gary Bell and EnergySolutions’ Waste Management President Joe Heckman. Bell shared an overview of the company’s Triso fuel and an update on the construction of Triso-X’s next-gen fuel plant in Oak Ridge near ETTP, and its planned startup on Dec. 6, 2027. The plant will have 460 employees and is using UCOR’s partnering programs at Roane State Community College as the blueprint to meet its workforce training needs.
