ORNL annual evacuation exercise
ORNL’s annual Laboratory-wide Facility Evacuation Exercise is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. The exercise will begin with the sounding of the standard alert tone, followed by voice instructions by the Laboratory Shift Superintendent (LSS) over the public address, Wide Area Radio System (WARS), and desktop alert system. The exercise will last for approximately 15 minutes. An announcement will be made over the public address and WARS by the LSS when the exercise has concluded. UCOR personnel should become familiar with facility Emergency Manual/Emergency Action Plan for actions to be taken during an evacuation. UCOR’s deactivation/decommissioning and high hazard field work are exempt from this exercise. All other UCOR facilities and personnel are required to participate. Y-12 full-scale emergency management exercise
CNS will conduct a full-scale, plant-wide emergency management exercise at Y-12 on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The exercise is expected to start at approximately 8 a.m. and is anticipated to be completed no later than 12:30 p.m. During this time, UCOR staff at Y-12 should follow all directions from the Operations Center and Security personnel such as protective actions, temporary portal closures, road closures, etc. Please remain clear of exercise areas and limit calls to the Operations Center.
