Waste Transportation Program crews successfully installed and commissioned a new water truck automatic fill station at the ETTP Heritage Center waste transportation hub. The new system significantly improves safety and efficiency of water-truck-filling operations.
The filling process is simplified by eliminating the need for drivers to manually connect and disconnect the hydrant hose. Drivers just position the truck under the fill station, align the fill port with the tanker opening, exit the vehicle to open the valve, close the valve when filling is complete, and then depart.
“Removing the use of a physical hose significantly improves our driver’s safety,” said Brad Melton, Transportation Program Manager. “The new design eliminates the potential for a driver to run over a hose during approach or departure and prevents accidentally driving off with the hose still attached.”
This upgrade supports the Waste Transportation Program’s commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and maintaining a strong safety culture.
