Congratulations to Tommy Morgan (pictured left) and Josh Vajda (pictured right) who were honored at the 2024 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Winter Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida recently.
Morgan, who works for the Chief Operating Officer group, was named to ANS’s inaugural 40 under 40 list. This competitive list recognizes 40 individuals who strengthen the foundations of the nuclear field and the future of the workforce. Candidates were nominated by either their workplace, institution, or a fellow ANS member. For this nomination, the judges measure both professional achievement in the nuclear industry and ways these individuals continue to engage the public and inspire colleagues in everything nuclear.
“I am honored that the American Nuclear Society recognized me alongside so many impressive professionals from the nuclear industry. The opportunity I get through UCOR to help close the lifecycle of nuclear facilities and safely manage waste so that the nuclear industry can be advanced is one I truly enjoy. This group of industry leaders is shaping the future of nuclear, and I am grateful that I am a part of it,” said Morgan.
Vajda, a project engineer with UCOR’s Site Integration and Cleanup Engineering group, received a presidential citation. This award is only given by the ANS president to individuals who have made significant contributions to the society or the nuclear community.
Vajda received this award for his contributions to the development of the Licensing and Regulation Certificate, his leadership in creating the Certified Nuclear Professional exam, and his participation on the ANS Special Committee on Certification.
“I appreciate the recognition from the American Nuclear Society, as it highlights the value of credentialing to advance the expertise and standards of the nuclear community. I am hopeful that these efforts will benefit the industry by creating opportunities for career development for nuclear professionals,” said Vajda.
The ANS Winter Conference honored those who have made significant contributions to the nuclear industry and provided a unique opportunity to discuss technical challenges ahead.
