November is a time to honor the men and women who have served our country and recognize the sacrifices they have made. It is also an opportunity to remember the effects that military service can have beyond the years spent in uniform. Veterans may face unique challenges and while every veteran’s journey is different, mental wellbeing is an important part of overall health.
Veterans deserve support even in the smallest of ways. A simple conversation, a willingness to listen without judgment, or checking in on someone who may be struggling can make a meaningful difference.
We may not always know what someone is carrying beneath the surface, but we can choose how we show up. Showing compassion, offering support, and reminding others that they do not have to face life’s challenges alone, are a few ways we can each contribute to a caring culture where asking for help is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.
As an Air Force Veteran and Lead Counselor, I would like to extend my gratitude to all those who served our nation and know that your service and sacrifice continue to make a difference. Please never hesitate to give me a call at Navigate’s Mental Wellbeing Center 865-535-8558.
