Workers have completed mobilization for a significant new project at the ETTP Heritage Center aimed at removing Outfall 724, which had been operating under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. An NPDES permit is a regulatory requirement for facilities that discharge pollutants directly from point sources into the state’s surface waters.
To remove this outfall, workers will dewater the adjacent 770 embayment, remove existing stormwater piping, and remove extensive vegetation. They will then recontour the area to ensure proper drainage into the Clinch River, further enhancing environmental protection.
UCOR direct-hire resources are anticipated to complete this project by April 2026.
