The Y-12 Beryllium Bandits had a big hit with a fun twist at their recent meeting by participating in a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) blind-folded dress out challenge.
Participants Larry Brede, UCOR’s Y-12 Area Project Manager, and Bobby Alred, Y-12 Cleanup Safety & Health manager, had to put on PPE blind-folded, while completing accurate application of the equipment. While the competitors dressed up in costume, they took their commitment to safety very seriously.
The competitors upheld the same level of care and focus on safety, having an Industrial Hygiene specialist on the scene to ensure the equipment was applied properly.
After the initial competition, crews were offered the chance to participate in the challenge, turning PPE safety regimens into a fun challenge and learning opportunity on how to return to work the same way you came.
