Nuclear Facility Safety Manager Karen Balo spoke about post-graduation life at a recent University of Tennessee Society of Women Engineers (SWE) General Body Meeting. Her topic “You’re an engineer…now what?” covered how to transition to a working engineer and how to use that background to find new opportunities as they grow in their career. Students also learned about UCOR and UT’s newest collaboration to offer a DOE-focused nuclear and criticality safety program
UCOR also served as the meeting sponsor. Funds from the sponsorship will go to sponsor SWE members at the national conference. Those funds will also support SWE outreach programs such as their Tomorrow’s Engineers Today event, which introduces K-12 students to opportunities in STEM and Engineering and afterschool program at Dogwood Elementary School.
