At ORNL’s Isotope Row, UCOR carpenters are constructing a framework on the roof of Building 3032 to contain contamination as they remove the local ventilation system. The framework will be covered with plastic. Removal of the radiologically contaminated ventilation system is a necessary step to prepare the building for eventual demolition next year, freeing up additional space for ORNL’s mission work. Building 3032 was a radioisotope laboratory used for storage, processing, and analysis of radioactive isotopes.
