Crews are in the process of removing over 20,500 linear feet, or about 3.8 miles, of fence around the ETTP Heritage Center site. The fence removal project facilitates the continued transfer of parcels for future land use for private and public use. It has proven beneficial to prospective owners, especially clean energy companies that need suitable locations, in their site investigations and design as part of their lengthy licensing process. In addition, fence removal eliminates clutter around the K-25 footprint and other historic resources that are expected to attract visitors to ETTP throughout the year.
Workers began removing the fencing in October. Work will continue through the Spring of 2025. To date, crews have removed over 5,700 linear feet of fence on the west side of the plant—about a quarter of the total amount of fencing to be removed.
