In preparation for an upcoming readiness assessment (RE), the ORNL Nuclear Operations Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) Continuous Purge System (CPS) team recently constructed a mockup to provide training for maintenance and craft personnel. The group dressed out for the demonstration to practice performing the connection between the existing tanks and the new CPS. The mockup provided immediate feedback from the pipefitters to be incorporated into the work control documents, such as use of additional tethering of components during the connection evolution.
The RE team arrived on site today and are expected to conduct their assessment over the next two weeks. Successful completion of the RE will position the CPS team to begin the final readiness assessments prior to startup of the system.
