Last week UCOR hosted the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Board of Directors meeting, where the Chamber announced its formation of a “Nuclear Industry Council.” This will build on UCOR’s cleanup success for DOE that has enabled significant commercial nuclear energy investments in the Oak Ridge Corridor.
As the state’s largest business advocacy group, the Tennessee Chamber looks to expand on East Tennessee’s establishment of its Nuclear Innovation Hub and ensure workforce, economic and energy supply-chain opportunities are a statewide business initiative.
“Gov. Lee has positioned Tennessee as a nuclear leader, so the state chamber is looking to ensure this continues to be a business and legislative priority for the next governor’s team,” said UCOR Chief Nuclear Officer Jay Mullis.
UCOR also hosted a business roundtable lunch with the board and Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) and Lt. Gov. Randy McNally. During the luncheon, representatives from UCOR, CNS, ORNL, Kairos Power, Triso-X, BWXT and other key stakeholders discussed the Nuclear Industry Council.
