UCOR is pleased to announce the addition of critical illness insurance to our benefits package. This coverage provides financial protection in the event of a qualifying medical diagnosis. Please review the details below and consider if enrolling in this coverage is right for you starting in 2026.
Critical Illness Policy
Critical Illness is a $20,000 cash policy that is paid directly to employees in lump sum benefit payments to use however needed. This plan covers diagnoses such as stroke, heart attack, end-stage renal failure, organ transplant, bypass surgery, and brain tumors that are diagnosed after coverage effective date (no pre-existing conditions). - $20,000 of guaranteed issue (GI) coverage for employees; GI coverage available for spouse and children
- No pre-existing condition exclusion – initial diagnosis must occur on or after the effective date of coverage
- 0-day separation period for additional benefit payments for medically unrelated conditions
- 30-day separation period for reoccurrence benefit payments
- Additional conditions covered at 100% include ALS, dementia including Alzheimer’s, MS, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease
- For employees under age 25, the wellness benefit offsets the cost, making coverage effectively free.
Each covered member can receive $50 ($100 if spouse is covered) for completing one annual Be Well screening test – annual physical, sports physical, cancer screenings, mammograms, and for specific immunizations! Be well flyer can be accessed here.

With post-tax benefit deductions, employees may cancel anytime during the year; new enrollments only allowed at hire, qualifying life event, or during annual enrollment.
You will have the opportunity to enroll in the new accident insurance benefit during this year’s Open Enrollment (October 27 – November 7, 2025)!
