UCOR and DOE OREM participated in the 5th NAACP Oak Ridge/Anderson County Back to School Resource Fair at the Scarboro Community Center on Saturday. The event provides tools to help both parents and teachers get prepared for the school year. Representatives from each Oak Ridge City school were on hand to provide education resources to parents and students to ensure they are set up for success as they begin the new school year.
UCOR donated more than 100 backpacks and school supplies along with sweet treats. Students and their families then moved on to the Oak Ridge Police Department’s table for additional school supplies to fill their new backpacks.
Other community supporters at the event included the Scarboro Community Alumni Association, Roane State Community College, National Alliance on Mental Illness Tennessee (NAMI), and Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Tennessee Heartland.
