UCOR Accepting Proposals for Education Mini-Grant Program
Oak Ridge, Tenn., February 21, 2019 – For the eighth consecutive year, UCOR, an AECOM-led partnership with Jacobs, is accepting proposals from area schools in Anderson and surrounding counties for educational mini-grants for instructional projects related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
UCOR Education Mini-Grants will be awarded directly to teachers and schools for specific projects. All teachers are welcome to apply, but proposals should focus on STEM. For instance, a music teacher might apply for a grant for a math-related project within the field of music.
Interested teachers and administrators should go to the UCOR website (www.ucor.com) for more information. Applications must be received by March 7, 2019 to be considered.
Proposal packages can be obtained from the UCOR website. More than one teacher in a school may submit proposals. Applications may be made for $500 (for a single classroom), $750 (for a grade or several classes) or $1,000 (for an entire school).
Proposals will be judged on three criteria:
• A project summary that describes the project and expected results.
• The top three learning objectives/curriculum concepts that will be enhanced by the grant and how results will be measured.
• An explanation as to how the project supports STEM and why it is deserving of the grant.
Grant winners will be selected and notified by April 16. All winners will be invited to attend a special UCOR-sponsored event recognizing their successful grant application and highlighting the project featured in their proposals.
For more information about the UCOR Education Mini-Grants program, contact Leslie Palmer, UCOR Communications, at (865) 574-9102 or ucor.grants@ettp.doe.gov.
The Mini-Grants are part of UCOR’s community support program which is focused on four key areas locally: 1) Children’s Advocacy, 2) Education and Workforce Development 3) Health and Wellness and 4) Conservation. UCOR’s support for education emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activities.
