Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Oct. 31, 2019 – The inaugural class of UCOR’s Rising Senior Leaders’ program was honored this week with a special graduation ceremony. Participants of the 12-month program joined UCOR executives for a recognition dinner at Club LeConte in Knoxville on Oct. 29.
The year-long program is part of UCOR’s ongoing workforce development program. It was specifically designed for managers who have the potential to advance to senior and executive leadership positions. Participants met monthly for specific training and to interact with mentors and industry leaders. Training topics included the art of anticipation, managing a service delivery model, building a business line, labor relations, and much more.
The class of 2019 included:

Program graduate Tommy Morgan said the program was a unique opportunity to study an array of key enterprise topics and to obtain in-depth insights from our executive team. Morgan said, “The knowledge gained during this program has already enhanced my leadership capabilities and shaped the trajectory of my career in this industry.”
UCOR President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Rueter said the program is one of many important aspects in the company’s workforce development effort. “We are working hard with community partners to create a pipeline for future cleanup work,” Rueter said. “I believe it is equally important to create an internal pipeline of qualified, dedicated leaders. I’ve watched each of these graduates become even more effective as they have worked their way through the program. I am excited to see what the next class will do.”
UCOR managers selected to participate in the RSL Class of 2020 were announced recently and are ready to begin their experience.
UCOR, an AECOM-led partnership with Jacobs, is the DOE Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management’s lead cleanup contractor on the Oak Ridge Reservation. Since August 2011, UCOR has worked to reduce environmental risk by cleaning up legacy facilities from the former Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, allowing DOE to repurpose the land and buildings for use as a multi-use industrial park, national park, and conservation area. The company is also cleaning up contaminated facilities that are no longer in use at ORNL and Y-12, reducing environmental risk and helping the DOE Office of Science and the National Nuclear Security Administration to continue their missions.
